Dear All,
It has been a year since I created the Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand Studies Network (ACNZSN)! Although it has been a lot of hard work, I am really proud of what I have been able to achieve 🙂 I have lost count of the number of people who have thanked me for circulating the fortnightly ACNZSN newsletter which I produce, which includes news, opportunities, and recent publications in Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies. This appreciation has really meant a lot as my work on ACNZSN is completely voluntary and I receive no funding for it either. The ACNZSN website has grown considerably and its social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter are also thriving. Other particular highlights from the past year include my founding of the Journal of Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies (JACANZS) as a part of ACNZSN, which was a long-held academic dream 🙂 The inaugural issue of the journal will be published in June 2021 and includes some great content! I want to thank the Book Reviews Editor, Ms. Emily Cornish for her wonderful work. I also want to express my gratitude to the public supporters of the network and the editorial board of the journal for their continued support. And I want to acknowledge the two members of the editorial board who also kindly joined me on an adjudication committee to determine the winner of the inaugural Donna Coates Book Prize awarded by ACNZSN, and together with myself, contributed towards the monetary part of the prize. A call for submissions was also circulated for an edited collection on Revisiting the British World: New Voices and Perspectives, co-edited by myself, as a part of my ‘Studies in Transnationalism’ book series with Peter Lang Publishing, under the auspices of ACNZSN. The collection is due to be published in late 2021. I look forward to continuing to work on making ACNZSN thrive and grow 🙂
Best Wishes,
Creator and Manager of ACNZSN
Editor-in-chief of JACANZS
