News:

Just a reminder about ACNZSN’s annual Donna Coates Book Prize. The deadline is 31 December 2021.

A reminder also about the Call for Papers for Vol. 2, Issues 1-2 of ACNZSN’s Journal of Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies (JACANZS). The deadline for manuscripts for Vol. 2, Issue 1 is 31 December 2021. And the deadline for proposals for a special issue of Vol. 2, Issue 2 is 31 March 2022.

The 2021 ANU Archives Annual Lecture will be given online by Dr. Anthea Hyslop on ‘Records and Recollections: The Pneumonic Influenza Pandemic in Australia, 1918-1919’ on  Tuesday 26 October 2021 at 6-7pm (AEDT).

Professor Mark Kenny will be giving an Online Lecture on ‘Lucky but lame – Australia’s unhappy relationship with risk’ on Tuesday 26 October 2021 at 5.30pm (AEDT). The talk is presented as part of A Foreign Country: Travels through the Past, a series of fortnightly lectures hosted by the State Library of New South Wales.

The Laureate Centre for History and Population at the University of New South Wales Sydney is inviting applications for its 2022 Laureate Scholars-in-Residence program. The deadline for applications is 1 November 2021.

 

Opportunities:

Call for Papers

The deadline for the submission of proposals for the Association of Canadian Studies in the United States (ACSUS)’ conference taking place in Washington D.C., on 24-27 March 2022 is fast approaching! Make sure you get those proposals in on time 🙂 You can view the call for papers in English and French. The deadline is 1 November 2021.

The 2022 Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) on ‘Coming to Terms, 30 Years On: The Mabo Legacy in Australian Writing’ will be taking place on  4–8 July 2022 in nipaluna/Hobart, lutruwita/Tasmania, Australia. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 31 January 2022.

The Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship, valued at $20,000, supports Australian writers working on biography projects.
