Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand Studies Network (ACNZSN) Newsletter – 09/07/21

Dear All,

Please find below the latest news, opportunities, and publications in Australian, Canadian, and Aotearoa New Zealand Studies 🙂

News:

In Wiradjuri, it’s respect: ‘Yindyamarra’.  The Australian Studies Institute (AuSI) at the Australian National University is delighted to share the second episode of Yindyamarra, its in conversation series hosted by Dr. Virginia Marshall. In this episode, Virginia is in conversation with Milima May, Larrakia activist, artist, writer and a trailblazer for Aboriginal law students and young people. Milima joins Virginia to yarn about what ‘being on Country’ means to her, how we can decolonise our thinking, the importance of healing and truth telling, the Northern Territory Youth Justice Legislation Amendment Bill, and, fighting for justice.

The Italian forebears of Professor Frank Bongiorno prospered in the Wimmera region of northwest Victoria. After an absence of twenty-five years, he returns and discovers a revealing convergence of local and national histories. Read this fascinating inaugural instalment of King’s College London’s Menzies Australia Institute’s ‘The Top Paddock’ here.
